2/7/2005 M8 Entertainment Inc. ("M8" or the "Corporation"), a leading Canadian film entertainment company engaged in the production, financing and worldwide licensing of theatrical feature films, announced today that Jenna Sanz-Agero has been named the new President of Media 8 Entertainment (Media 8), effective immediately. As President, Ms. Sanz-Agero will be responsible for overseeing the company's day-to-day operations, as well as the negotiation of all primary acquisition, production, distribution and finance transactions relating to Media 8 productions.
Jenna has proven herself to be an exceptional leader and negotiator, and we believe she is ideally suited to lead Media 8 as we continue to define ourselves as a pre-eminent company in the global independent film marketplace, stated Sammy Lee, Chairman of the Board for M8 Entertainment. Since joining the company, Jenna has consistently proven herself to be a key member of the management team. We are confident that she has the vision and the skill to now lead Media 8 to the next level.
Prior to being named President, Ms. Sanz-Agero (née Piccolo) was Senior Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs for the company since 2003. Before joining Media 8, Ms. Sanz-Agero was a partner in the law firm Business Affairs, Inc. from 1999-2003, after serving as Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for MDP Worldwide.
The Corporation and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in the acquisition, financing, production and worldwide licensing of theatrical feature films in a variety of genres. M8s next release will be The Upside of Anger, a dramatic comedy written and directed by Mike Binder and starring Academy Award nominee Joan Allen and Academy Award winner Kevin Costner. The film had its gala premiere at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and will be released theatrically in North America by New Line Cinema on March 11, 2005.
Previous theatrical releases include the critically acclaimed drama Monster, which stars Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci and for which Charlize Theron won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Following Monsters success, M8 Entertainment is nearing completion on a number of feature films, including Running Scared, an action/drama by acclaimed director Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) and starring Paul Walker (The Fast and the Furious); and Lovewrecked, a charming teen comedy starring Amanda Bynes (What A Girl Wants) and directed by Randal Kleiser (Grease, Honey I Blew Up the Kid).
