Miramax Films Acquires MDP Worldwide's "The I Inside"

Miramax Films has acquired all distribution rights for North America, Italy and Australia/New Zealand to MDP Worldwide’s psychological thriller “The I Inside”, it was jointly announced by Agnes Mentre, Executive Vice President of Acquisitions for Miramax Films and Mark Damon, Chairman and CEO of MDP Worldwide. Directed by Roland Suso Richter (“The Tunnel”), the film stars Ryan Phillippe (“Cruel Intentions”, “Igby Goes Down”), Sarah Polley (“The Sweet Hereafter”, “Guinevere”), Piper Perabo (“Coyote Ugly”), Stephen Rea (“The Crying Game”, “The End of the Affair”), Stephen Lang (“Manhunter”, “D-Tox”) and Robert Sean Leonard (“Dead Poets Society”, “The Age of Innocence”).

The film was produced by Rudy Cohen and Mark Damon and was executive produced by Sammy Lee, Stewart Hall, Andreas Schmid and Andreas Grosch.
“Roland Richter has created a visually stunning film from a thought-provoking script,” stated Matt Brodlie, Sr. V.P. of Acquisitions, “We are very happy to be in business with him, and we are excited about this film.”
“Harvey and Bob Weinstein’s passion and enthusiasm for this film convinced us that Miramax/Dimension would be the right choice as distributors of this unique film” added Damon, “we are delighted that they are our partners on this film.”
Based on screenwriter Michael Cooney's murder-mystery play, Point of Death, “The I Inside” follows the fictional life of Simon Cable, who after a near death experience, awakens in the hospital with amnesia. In searching for his identity, he discovers that he has the power to travel back in time and change events in order to resolve the mysterious murder of his brother.

“The I Inside” marks German director Roland Suso Richter’s English language feature film debut. Best known outside of Germany for his critically acclaimed four hour mini-series “The Tunnel”, Richter has directed more than fifteen distinguished television and feature films in Germany.

The project was brought to Miramax by Michelle Krumm, V.P. of Acquisitions and Matt Brodlie, Sr. V.P. of Acquisitions. Andrew Gumpert, Executive V.P. of Business and Legal Affairs negotiated the deal on behalf of Miramax and Mark Damon negotiated on behalf of MDP Worldwide. The William Morris Agency acted as consultants to MDP.
