Media 8 Entertainment to Produce "Lovewrecked"

Media 8 Entertainment Inc. announced today that it will produce, finance and distribute the feature film project Lovewrecked. Written by Stephen Langford, the film is charming family comedy in the vein of Freaky Friday and What a Girl Wants. The film will be directed by Randal Kleiser, the director of such notable feature films as Grease and The Blue Lagoon. Lovewrecked will be a co-production of Media 8 Entertainment and Bacon & Eggs, the production company owned by Lance Bass, Wendy Thorlakson, and Joe Anderson. Media 8 Entertainment's Stewart Hall will produce with Anderson and Thorlakson. The film is slated for production in June in the Caribbean. Nancy Nayor (The Whole Ten Yards, Road Trip) has signed on as casting director, and the film has begun actively casting.

"Lovewrecked is an incredibly fresh and fun script. It's a delightful, family-oriented project that we expect will have very wide audience appeal," stated Sammy Lee, Vice Chairman of the Board for Media 8 Entertainment. "This project is a great vehicle for a teen star, and the concept and comedy will appeal to all ages. This project is a wonderful addition to our current slate of high profile feature films," further added Lee.

"Lovewrecked is the only script out of literally hundreds I have read this year that made me laugh out loud, perhaps because I know firsthand how passionate fans can be!" said Lance Bass. "We are very excited to be working with Media 8 Entertainment to bring this story to life."

Lovewrecked tells the story of Jenny, an eighteen year-old girl who is ecstatic when she finds that her favorite rock star, Jason, is a guest at the tropical resort where she is working for the summer. When they are both thrown overboard during a cruise, Jenny is even more thrilled to find herself stranded on a remote beach, alone with Jason. Jenny soon learns that they are actually just down the beach from the resort - but Jenny keeps the truth from Jason so that she will have a chance to win him over. Things get even more complicated when Jenny's rival Brittany pretends to be shipwrecked too, and they must compete for Jason's affections.

Media 8 Entertainment's current slate of upcoming releases includes the Mike Binder-directed The Upside of Anger, a bittersweet comedy which is slated to be released in the US through New Line Cinema, and stars three-time Academy Award nominee Joan Allen, two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Costner, Erika Christensen, Evan Rachel Wood, Keri Russell, and Alicia Witt. Also upcoming is Santa's Slay, an action infused horror-comedy that casts everyone's favorite holiday figure, Santa, in an entirely new and sinister light. Media 8 Entertainment is co-producing Santa's Slay with Brett Ratner (director of mega-box office hits Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, and Red Dragon), and the film features WWE wrestling star Bill Goldberg as the devilish Santa Claus, alongside up-and- coming young stars Douglas Smith (State's Evidence, Sleepover) and Emilie de Ravin ("Roswell"). Also forthcoming is Havoc, Academy Award winner Stephen Gaghan's (Traffic) searing music-driven story of teen culture as it clashes with the real world of urban Latino gangsters, directed by two-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple, and starring Anne Hathaway and Bijou Phillips.

Media 8 Entertainment's recent theatrical releases include the highly acclaimed Monster, starring Charlize Theron, which has garnered numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild award; as well as The United States of Leland starring two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, Ryan Gosling, and Don Cheadle.
